Earth that Was could no longer sustain our numbers, we were so many. We found a new solar system, dozens of planets and hundreds of moon. Each one was terraformed, a process taking decades, to support human life, to be new Earths.
"Serenity," (2005)
Although, they take place several centuries from now, the events of the movie "Serenity" and the television series "Firefly" are rooted in a time much closes, the 2030s, when residents of Earth realized that no amount of legislation or "green" light bulbs could save their planet. They'd used it all up.
"Firefly" is a unique hodgepodge of the American West and spaceships; traditional China and advanced technology; strange new worlds and the same old human problems.
It's a combination as unlikely as a guy from Maine, after walking the Earth for 33 years, finding the near-perfect woman living in the city where she was born. And since we're making this chance happening into a lifetime partnership, we figured to celebrate it our way. We aim to misbehave.
Please join us in our celebration of lifelong love and playfulness. Dress up; be a space cowboy or an alien princess, a robot, clone or mad scientist, a glimpse of an old culture in a future age or a representative of a people yet to be.
Then eat with us, dance with us, play with us, cry with us, laugh with us, and drink with us to the best possible future for us all.
